Calfreezy x Hawksmoor
The Burgurr.
Built by two people who take burgers very, very seriously. Available from Monday 3rd August.
An award-winning steakhouse and a man best known for shouting “burgurr” at a camera is not the obvious pairing. We know. But somewhere between that joke going viral and Cal still doing it years later, we figured someone should challenge him to make his own. So we did.

The Burgurr
Two people who take burgers seriously, left alone in a kitchen for a few days. This is what they built.
The Burgurr. A bacon double cheeseburger, and yes, that really is what it’s called (IYKYK).
Two dry-aged beef patties, American cheese, the kind that oozes properly and goes wherever it wants. Smoked streaky bacon for a bit of a snap. White onion, raw, for something to bite back against it.
A Calfreezy-made burger sauce, including the one thing he swore it would never have. Pickles.
All of it held together by a milk bun built to take the weight and not fall apart as you eat it.
Have it as is, or order it as a meal complete with beef dripping fries and peppercorn sauce on the side. Exactly how Calfreezy has his.
Meet Calfreezy
Callum Airey, also known online as Calfreezy, is a Youtuber and Podcaster, and by general agreement, he’s the internet’s loudest burger critic.
He’s spent years telling anyone who’ll listen what’s right and wrong with burgers, he’s tried most of them, and even hands out his own golden burger award.
And he’s also genuinely one of our most loyal customers. More than 50 visits and counting – he eats with us more than most of the people who work here.

Enter Matt Brown
Our very own chef, Matt Brown built the Big Matt, voted the best burger in the world in 2023 and in the global top 10 every year since. This year the Royale with Cheese joined it. He doesn’t let burgers onto the menu lightly.
Cal claims he knows what makes a good burger. But the problem is…he’s never made one.
He’s not even a chef. So Matt invited him into the kitchen and challenged him to create the perfect burger.
The Burgurr Build
He built the whole thing from nothing, with Matt testing, tasting and offering an opinion when asked. A quiet judgement and a few side eyes too. Every call, the patty, the sauce, the cheese, the bun, was Cal’s.
He knew exactly what he wanted, and exactly what he didn’t. When something wasn’t right, he said so, and they went again. Different patties. Different sauces. Different cheeses. Different buns. Discarding what didn’t work until only what he’d have chosen himself was left standing.
We filmed the whole thing. What you’ll see is exactly how it happened, days in the kitchen, no script, no burger already sitting in a fridge waiting to have his name stuck on it.
There were arguments about pickles. Some burnt bacon. A few sauces that thankfully will never see daylight. By the end, Matt was impressed.
Well, as impressed as Matt gets, anyway. Usually a quiet nod of approval.

This is comfortably the best burger I’ve ever had.
